Hombu Dojo

Legacy of the Hombu Dojo
in the city of Hasselt in Belgium, the hometown of Soke Garcia stands the revered Hombu Dojo, a sanctuary of martial arts tradition and a pivotal training ground for Shihan of all levels. Constructed in 1981, the dojo has become a symbol of martial arts excellence and cultural heritage under the watchful guidance of Soke Garcia.
Foundation and Vision
The foundation of the Hombu Dojo was laid on a crisp autumn day in 1981, with the vision of creating a hub for the highest levels of martial arts training in Europe. Designed with meticulous attention to traditional Japanese architecture, the dojo not only serves as a training facility but also as a cultural bridge between the East and the West.
Training Grounds of Excellence
Since its inauguration, the dojo has welcomed countless martial arts practitioners. Its tatami mats have borne witness to the rigorous training and elevation of many Shihans, who travel from various parts of the world to refine their skills and deepen their understanding of martial arts philosophy. The dojo operates under a strict regimen, maintaining the highest standards of discipline and respect, attributes that are central to the martial arts it teaches.
A Living Tradition
Outside the dojo, the meticulously maintained Japanese garden reflects Soke Garcia’s deep connection and love to Japanese traditions. This garden, crafted by Soke himself, is more than just a space for tranquility; it’s an extension of the training environment, where the principles of balance, harmony, and respect for nature are palpable. Soke spends many hours tending to the garden, embodying the discipline and dedication he imparts inside the dojo.
A Beacon for Martial Arts
Today, the Hombu Dojo in Hasselt is recognized not just as a training facility but as a beacon of martial arts culture. It stands as a testament to the lifelong dedication of Soke Garcia to the art of Hakko Denshin Ryu Jujutsu and his commitment to spreading its values. As the dojo continues to train future generations, it remains a symbol of enduring tradition and evolving mastery, a place where the past and future of martial arts converge in the present.
